As the weather starts to get that chill in the air, Holland transforms into a canvas of color, drawing visitors who seek scenic fall foliage and regional harvest experiences. It’s a unique experience to see the beauty of autumn in Holland, because the trees turn bright yellow and red, and the smell of fall just brings meaning to the season.

The Blue Star Highway

This route, south of Holland, is the traditional fall color drive, offering sweeping curves and wooded canopies as it connects towns like Saugatuck and South Haven.

Scenic Routes and Foliage Views

One of the best things to do in the area during the fall is to take one of the planned Fall Color Tours, which come with maps to help visitors find the best routes. The dune climb at Mt. Pisgah is one of the best places to see the changing landscape and the long Lake Michigan shoreline. The area has miles of trails that are excellent for hiking and biking, and they get you up close to the beautiful fall leaves.

Harvest Markets and Craft Brews

The season is closely tied to the farming calendar, and U-pick orchards and farm markets sell fresh fruits and vegetables as well as other special items. The Holland Farmers Market is still going strong at the Eighth Street Market Place from mid-May to early December.
